Background: Dr. W. David Arnold is currently Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.  He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville, School of Medicine in 2004.  He continued his training at the University of Louisville with a preliminary year of internal medicine followed by residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  He completed an additional year of fellowship training in Clinical Neuromuscular Medicine in the Neurology Department at The Ohio State University after which he joined the staff.  Dr. Arnold’s particular interests include the full spectrum of neuromuscular disorders, functional and rehabilitation aspects of neuromuscular disorders, and less commonly used neurophysiological techniques such as single fiber EMG and quantitative EMG.

Board Certification: Dr. Arnold is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (2009).  He completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in Clinical Neuromuscular Medicine in the Neurology Department at the Ohio State University.

Clinical Interests: Nerve and muscle disorders, functional and rehabilitation aspects of neuromuscular disorders, and special EMG techniques (see Special EMG Clinic) including SFEMG, Quantitative EMG, and less common nerve conduction studies.  Dr. Arnold has a particular interest in the care of patients with neuromuscular disorders in the inpatient setting.

Preliminary work presented as an abstract at the 2009 American Academy of Neurology Annual meeting in Seattle, Washington and the 2009 Families of SMA meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Linkage analysis is in progress.
